Free ATS Resume Checker and Editor

Upload your resume, see how an applicant tracking system (ATS) is likely to read it, fix the weak spots in an online editor, then re-check it. The score and the checklist are free. Your resume text stays in your browser and is never sent to our servers.

What is an ATS?

An applicant tracking system is the software many employers use to collect, sort and search resumes before a person reads them. It pulls out your contact details, your section headings and your keywords, so a resume that is easy for software to parse is more likely to be read by a recruiter.

How the ATS score works

The checker is a rule-based guide, not a copy of any one vendor's software, because real systems differ. It scores the things that are true for almost all of them:

Without a job description the score is split across the first six checks, with the standard sections, measurable results and action verbs counting most. When you paste a job description, keyword match becomes the biggest part of the score (40 out of 100).

Add a job description

Paste the job ad and the checker lists the keywords it asks for that your resume is missing, so you can add the ones that are true for you. A full keyword list is part of the paid plans.

Edit, re-check and download

Fix your resume in the editor, pick a plain template and check it again. Pro members can download the result as an ATS-friendly Word or PDF file.

Frequently asked questions

Is my resume uploaded to a server?

No. The text is read and scored in your browser. If you are signed in you can choose to save a short skills summary to your account, never the resume text.

Which files can I upload?

On the website you can upload a PDF or a Word file, paste your text, or try the sample. In the mobile app, upload a Word (.docx) file or paste your text.

Is a high score a guarantee?

No. It shows how well your resume matches common ATS rules. It cannot predict a hiring decision.
